Here, You Will Learn How to Add a Realistic Fire Effect Using Wondershare Filmora. That Will Help to Boost Your Channel and Decorate Your YouTube Channel with Creative and Unique Effects

Do you know that many cinema films and big-budget companies use visual effects to create realistic fires? It saves them from potential danger in production and helps them manage the time required to create a project. In this article, you will get pro tips and easy ways to add Fire effects by Wondershare Filmora.

Note: let’s not count Michael Bay and Christopher Nolan productions because their movies have a higher budget, and creating fake fire is easy.

Part 1. What do you need to create fire effects?

Using simple tools such as Filmora and visual effects, you can create a realistic fire effect with an easy setup. For filming the effect, we will need

  1. A good camera
  2. A light source
  3. Video editing software - Wondershare Filmora
  4. Basic editing skills

However, the light source is key to the fire effects. It will be beneficial if you have a warmer color light or a light that can change its temperature. You can use tungsten light bulbs or small circular LEDs that are pretty famous with Vloggers and tick-tock users.

Part 2. How to make a realistic effect fire?

After getting prepared, it’s time to do the real things. Follow the steps below to create a realistic fire effect like a pro.

Step1 Record your footage

While recording the video, you can slightly shake your light source, which will give it the flickering effect of the flame. Here, you can do this in two ways.

Shaking the light manually

Just make sure when you are shaking the light, it is not shaken aggressively, or it will lose its realism to a real fire.

shaking the light source

Shaking the light using a dimmer

You can also use some skills to create the flickering effect of the fire without literally shaking the LED light. Dimmers come to help. A dimmer is a device that enables you to change the temperature of the LED light. If you have a dimmer, your work will be more accessible.

A regulator on the dimmer will help you switch between low and high tones. It will flicker the light on the object like a flame and make it look like it was placed in front of a real fire.

dimmer for shaking

Step2 Record the object

Our next step will be to record the object on which the effect is taking place. Ensure the camera is placed under a good light source so that the picture is not dim and the object is exposed. Make sure the camera is placed at the level of the eye so that it will help you record your video clearly and accurately.

Also, keep in mind to zoom out the camera lens, which will fix the frame of the video so that the object or the person is entirely on the screen. Another tip for creating a realistic fire effect would be the person acting as the object. The more natural the acting is, the more realistic would be the fire effect.

Step3 Edit the footage

We are being safe and saving time by not using actual fire. The goal of creating a fake fire would be the effect and reaction of the object or the actor.

1. Download a professional video editing software - Wondershare Filmora

Visit Wondershare Filmora official site if you haven’t already downloaded it.

Note: download the latest version of filmora. It will give you a pro version and help you to create more realistic fire effects.

2. Create a new project and import the recorded clips

Before adding the fire effects to your video, you must ensure that you are familiar with the editing software. Your first step would be to add your clips to the timeline. Drag the footage from the library and enter it into the timeline.

3. create the fire effect more realistic by adding smoke

The next step would be to add smoke to the fire. As it is only fair that the fire makes the smoke so. Adding the smoke will create the fire effect more realistic. Follow the below steps to get your cinematic video!

#Step1 Search for smoke effects

To add the smoke effect, click on the element’s icon on the bar above and search for smokescreen 2.

#Step2 Add a smoke effect

Once you have searched and found the smoke screen 2 effects, then import that effect onto your timeline so that you can begin editing.

adding smokescreen2 effect

Once you’ve added the fire effect, you will notice the change on the screen in the top right corner.

#Step3 Add duration

The next step would be to set the duration of the smokescreen effect so that it matches the length of the video. To do so,

  • Click on the edge of the smoke screen effect.
  • Drag it to the right if the effect appears smaller than the video clip.
  • And drag it to the left if it is larger than the video clip.
  • As soon as it matches the length of the video, leave the drag, and it will fit right into place.
#Step4 Make some changes to the smoke effect

Once you have matched the duration of the smoke screen effect to the video clip, our next step would be to make some changes. These changes will make the smokescreen appear more pleasingdouble-click on the smokescreen effect, which will open the transform menu.

We would first focus on the transform panel. Here you would have many options, but our focus would be on rotation, scale, and position.

Note: make sure to rotate the smoke screen effect by simply sliding the slider or dragging the slider right or left to your desire.

  • You would have created an angle of the smokescreen to make it more natural.
  • Now, we would have to adjust the scale of the smokescreen effect.
  • Drag the slider to the right to expand the smoke to spread on the screen. It will help the smoke screen do appear more natural.
  • You can adjust how much the smoke screen is visible on the screen by decreasing the opacity.

Adjust the slider to the left so it blends in with the flickering of the light we created. Now playback the video from the big screen to get an idea of the effect you added. And here are our parameters for reference.

adjust the slider

Cool, isn’t it? Now we have added smoke to our timeline. Combined with the flickering light effect, we are closer to our goal.

Step4 Add flames or sparks

To mimic a real fire, we also have one more element that is missing, And that will be the sparks and the flames. And if you want to bring the fire effect of your video to the pro level, we would have to use the film stock effects. Flames and sparks are also available in the Wondershare Filmora.

#Step1 Search for Fire Tab

search for fire tab

  • To do so, click on the bar above the element’s icon.
  • Once you have opened the elements tab, look to your left window, where further options are available.
  • From these options, click on the fire tab.
  • A new window will pop up in the library panel.
#Step2 Add the flame to the timeline

Click on a large scale 14 and drag it into your timeline above the smoke effect and the clip. Doing so would have created two extra layers after the video tab.

adding flame effect

#Step3 Adjust the flame effect

Now, we have to do steps similar to the ones above the first job. But first, you have to click on the edges of the effect. Then, match it to the length of your video.

Now, remember if the length of the effect is more than that of the video clip. You can adjust it by clicking on the edge and dragging it to the left. And if it appears to be smaller than the video clip, drag the edge to the right to match the length.

#Step4 Blend the video

When you look at the effect as you play the video from the start, you will notice that the effect is a little more intense than we want. To change it to your desires, you can follow the following steps.

  • First of all, double-click and open the transform
  • Experiment with the rotation and the scale and position; make your choice.
  • Then move on to the compositing panel and focus on the blending mode.
  • Here, you will notice a drop-down panel and select the screen option from all the other options.
  • Doing so would help you blend the spark effect video much better.

If you focus on the spark effect that appears on the screen, you will notice that it seems to be much more intense than we require. If you want to blend it further, you can use the opacity adjuster and decrease the transparency. Then, adjust the slider till you feel it to be just right.

And the following are ideal parameters of our adjustment just for you to refer to.

How to Uue Adobe Lightroom Color Grading

The main focus of color grading is changing the colors and tones in your photographs. Recent updates to Lightroom and Photoshop’s color grading functionality have improved its use and increased its capabilities. Color grading is ideal for giving your photograph a bit extra interest and improving the lighting.

All forms of photography benefit from and depend on color grading. The color grading tools in Lightroom and Photoshop will be especially appreciated by landscape and portrait photographers. If you’re wondering what happened to split toning, it was replaced by the Color Grading module, which is why split toning is now referred to as color grading.

1. Getting to Color Grading

Select the photo you want to modify and go to the develop module in Lightroom to access the Color Grading tool. Then, move your cursor down to the Color Grading menu on the right side of the screen. To see three separate color wheels, choose this.

The same choices are available in Photoshop’s Camera Raw Filter. Simply scroll down on the right side of the screen once you’ve opened a photo in the Camera Raw Filter until you see Color Grading. The process of color grading is identical in Photoshop and Lightroom. I’ll be using Lightroom to demonstrate the example photographs for the purposes of this blog article.

2. How to Use Color Grading

The first thing you’ll notice is that there are actually three identical color wheels. Each color wheel, though, has a distinct purpose. Midtones are controlled by the top wheel, shadows, and highlights by the left and right wheels, respectively.

Before moving on to the color grading stage, it’s crucial to notice that you should balance the temperature and tint of your image. Instead of balancing the colors to create the image, color grading is a technique for enhancing the colors in the image.

Avoid using the midtones color wheel when using the Color Grading tool for the first time. First, try modifying only the highlights and shadows wheel. Warm hues in the highlights and cold colors in the shadows appear great in the majority of photographs. However, when using these sliders to create some truly incredible photos, you may let your creativity run wild!

I’ve added some yellow (warmth) to the highlights and some blue (coolness) to the shadows in this particular example. As a result, the sunlight in my image appears to be very warm and inviting, and the shadows take on a colder, bluer appearance.

The color wheels are actually fairly easy to use. To select a color, merely click and drag it anywhere on the color wheel. The color will become stronger the further you are from the circle’s center. Each circle has a hidden slider bar underneath it. This modifies the related color wheel’s brightness value. In other words, you can brighten or darken the highlights by adjusting the bar underneath the highlights color wheel. The ability to quickly change the brightness levels in the highlights, shadows, or midtones is a convenient feature.

Blending and balancing are the other two parameters that you can modify. You can alter how well the color in the highlights, midtones, or shadows blend with one another with the blending slider. The colors will blend in more naturally by moving the blending slider higher.

The amount of the image that is judged to be in the highlights, shadows, or midtones can be changed with the balance slider. For instance, if I move the balance slider to the right, less of the highlights will show the adjustment. Only the highlights with the highest brightness will be affected by the change.

3. HSL/Color Panel

Move to the HSL/Color Panel, which stands for Hue, Saturation, and Luminance, after your image is ready to use. It is located under Tone Curve in the Develop Panel. This adjustment panel, in contrast to the ones stated before, will let you change different colors in your image independently of one another. Hue, Saturation, and Luminance are the three modifications that each color will receive.

4. Hue

Hue is measured in terms of the color wheel’s degrees. It’s possible to change the color’s real shade in this panel. For instance, you can modify the turquoise or blue to a more greenish tone if your scenario is a beach (as in our example photo). It’s advisable to begin making adjustments to your panel’s Hue before moving on to the others.

5. Saturation

The strength of the hue is known as saturation. (Remember that this HSL panel modification only affects the saturation of individual colors, not the saturation of the entire image.) In order to achieve a more subdued, muted appearance for this example, I reduced the Saturation on the aqua, blue, and green hues. To increase the intensity of your shot, you can do the exact reverse. Find the tweaks that suit your photo and the appearance you want to achieve best.

6. Luminance

Each color’s luminance measures how brightly it reflects light. Use this tool to brighten or darken specific areas of your image (it works especially well to provide contrast to black and white images). To make the water and sky behind the model darker in this example photograph, I decreased the Luminance setting on the aqua panel.

7. Adjustment Brush

Further isolate a section of your image using the Adjustment Brush so that you can change the Hue and any other parameters you like. Your Adjustment Brush is the final brush icon on the top of your editing panel. Adjust your Hue and begin painting on your image where you wish to change the color to begin color grading.(At the bottom of the Adjustment Brush Panel, you can adjust the brush’s size or feathering.)

This is perfect if you only want to edit one part of your shot. You can keep using the adjustments after you’ve painted your image to witness more changes as they happen in real time.

Here are a few tips to set you on the correct course because color grading might take some time and practice to master. Shooting in RAW will give you the most dynamic control over your colors, so be sure to do this. Try your best to start with a good photograph and to alter your default settings so that the canvas is even. Use color psychology to visually transmit the mood or feeling you wish to portray through color grading.

Utilize each panel to practice and experiment. There is no right or wrong method to color grade; it all depends on how you want your photographs to look stylistically. Press the Reset button in the right -hand corner of your panel to return to your original image.

Step4 Adding Movement to your Shots

  • After importing your clips to the timeline, double-click the clip to open the Editing Menu.

  • Once opened, the editing menu will have a Basic tab; click it.
  • Check the key-shaped button in front of the Transform button. It will create a Keyframe in the default form of your clip.

  • You need to add a second keyframe at the end of the clip to create movement. First, move the timeline cursor to the end of the clip. Then, check the key-shaped button in front of the Transform button again for a second Keyframe.
  • Now change the scale of the clip from the slider options in the Custom Animation

Step5 Adding Motion to your Shots

Keyframing can add motion to your project’s objects, clips, or images. To perform this in Filmora, follow these instructions:

  • Go to the Stock Media tab on the top left ribbon in Filmora and download some motion elements (videos/GIFs) from accessible outlets like the Flora GIF used here.
  • After importing elements to the timeline, double-click the element to open the Editing Menu.

  • Once opened, the editing menu will have a Basic tab; click
  • Check the key-shaped button in the Basic Tab. It will create a Keyframe in the default form of your motion element.

Step6 Keyframing Opacity

Keyframing allows creators to integrate variable opacity in their shots to instill a dramatic feel. This technique also helps create perfect fade-in and fade-out shots for your videos. Additionally, it is for theatrically dissolving shots too.
For an illustrated guide to keyframing opacity, keep on reading the following instructions:

  • Add a Keyframe to a clip on your timeline. For it, double-click the clip to open the Editing Menu, Then go to Basic Tab.
  • Check the key-shaped button in front of the Transform button. It will create a Keyframe in the default form of your motion element.

creating an initial keyframe

  • Move the red cursor to the end of the clip.

moving the keyframe to the end of the clip

  • Next, add another keyframe, scroll down in the editing menu, and remove the opacity from the slider below the Bend Mode option.

decreasing the opacity at the second keyframe

  • That’s it; you have a theatrical variation of the clip’s visible opacity throughout the timeline.
